Recommended Gongfu Brewing Method

  • For a 120 mL (4 fl oz) teapot or gaiwan, use 6 g (0.21 oz) of tea.

  • Rinse the tea before the first infusion.

  • For the first infusion, steep the tea for 12 seconds in water at a temperature above 95°C (203°F).

  • Steep the tea for 6 seconds for the second to fourth infusion.

  • For each subsequent infusion, increase the steeping time.

  • This tea is good for 8 or more infusions.

  • Use spring water or purified water. Do not use tap water.

  • Ripe Pu'er is a category of dark tea crafted from the large-leaf tea tree varieties native to Yunnan. Thanks to the pile fermentation techniques, this tea offers a full-bodied experience.

  • Our 2020 Mengsong Ripe Pu'er hails from one of the "Six Renowned Tea Mountains Beyond the Lancang River". Situated at an average elevation exceeding 1,800 meters (5,900 feet) within the tropical rainforests of Xishuangbanna, this ancient tea garden is enshrouded in mist year-round. The local Hani people's deep respect for nature has kept this ecosystem remarkably preserved. The leaves were carefully selected from tall, ancient trees of a single variety.

Crafted in Menghai, this locale's high humidity and minimal diurnal temperature fluctuations make it an ideal environment for microbial fermentation.

  • Uncommonly clean for a Ripe Pu'er, the infusion tantalizingly blends fruity and jujube aromas. It presents a sweetness nuanced by a hint of bitterness, all enveloped in a texture as dense, viscous, and silky as fruit jelly. The finish lingers, leaving a salivating aftertaste. As this tea ages, it promises to develop a fuller body and even richer aromas.
