Chinese Tea Ceremony & Workshop

  • Teasthetic 89 5th Avenue #701 New York, NY, 10003 United States (map)

We invite you to the opening event series at our new space in Manhattan!

In this immersive learning experience, you’ll first join a peaceful Chinese tea ceremony, and then learn to perform it yourself. Each session will feature a premium tea specially selected for the season and masterfully brewed.

For this session, we’ll brew Wuyi Rock Tea using a teapot.

What You Will Experience

  • Tranquility in a Cup: Join a peaceful Chinese tea ceremony and savor a masterfully brewed tea.

  • A Rich Culture: Discover the history of Chinese tea, various tea categories, ways to brew tea, and how to choose and use teaware.

  • Hands-on Practice: Learn the art of brewing and engage in the practice of performing a Chinese tea ceremony.

  • Tea has its roots in China, where it has been consumed for over 2,000 years. In China, tea is more than just a beverage—it's a significant aspect of the culture, serving both as a spiritual experience and a form of self-cultivation.

  • The Chinese tea ceremony is a ritualized way to savor tea. The contemporary practice draws its influence from the Ming Dynasty scholars and the Gongfu Tea Ceremony in the Chaoshan. Engaging in a tea ceremony is an exercise in mindfulness that deepens your appreciation of the tea.

  • Gong Mengyan, a New York-based tea artist, has been immersed in the study of Chinese tea since 2015. She is a student of Li Shuyun, one of China's most innovative tea masters. Mengyan has been hosting tea ceremonies in NYC since 2022, and founded Teasthetic in 2023 to spread Chinese tea culture.

  • No worries—we are here to guide you at every step. With all the necessary tea and teaware provided, embarking on your journey into the world of Chinese tea has never been easier.

  • Our doors are always open for your return. You will explore new teas, teaware, and brewing techniques in new sessions. As you continue practicing the Chinese tea ceremony, you will enhance your skills and deepen your mindfulness in this profound ritual.

Join us to dive into the depths of tea!
